ObjectivesTo become knowledgeable of…

1.      The Developmental Tasks of a congregation during an interim.

2.      The Process Tasks of Interim Pastors.

3.      The Theology of Interim Ministry.

4.      An introduction to congregational systems.

5.      Leading through “self-differentiation.”

Skills to be Developed:

1.      To be enabled to intentionally serve a congregation during the time between resident pastors.

2.      To be able to carry out such service with understanding and knowledge.

3.      To discern one’s commitment to this ministry and continuing education in it.

Rev. Dr. Robert E. Kasper

Assistant to the President - Michigan District, LCMS

Rev. Dr. Rob Kasper presently serves as Assistant to the President / Congregation Mission and Ministry Support / Metro Zone for the MI District, LCMS. Prior to joining the MI District staff in 2012, Dr. Kasper served nearly 30 years as a parish pastor in suburban St. Louis, MO and Detroit, MI. He serves as the Facilitator for Intentional Interim Ministry in the Michigan District. Dr. Kasper is the father of four grown children, grandfather of two children, and lives with his wife, Debbie in Ypsilanti, MI.

Rev. Galen Drawbaugh

Rev. Galen F. Drawbaugh has been a pastor in the LCMS for fifty years in which he has primarily served as the senior pastor in larger congregations. Since 2000, he has served seven congregations as an Intentional Interim Pastor in Iowa, Michigan and Indiana. He served two terms on the LCMS Interim Ministry Conference Board of Directors, one year as the Chairman of the Board. Rev. Drawbaugh is currently the Coordinator of Intentional Interim Ministries for the Indiana District, LCMS. He assists Rev. Dr. Robert Kasper in the planning of the Michigan/Indiana District Intentional Interim Ministry Continuing Education Conferences and co-teaches its annual Discernment Event.
