The WAL – Michigan Team supports and advises worship ministry work across the entire spectrum of style and experience, especially regarding contemporary topics including, but not limited to:

  • 1 – Worship planning (music, forms, liturgies)
  • 2 – Audio-Visual technology (sound, mixing, projections, lighting)
  • 3 – Expanding music repertoire
  • 4 – Building a culture of worship in a congregation
  • 5 – Recruitment of musicians

Keith Dwyer

Keith Dwyer

Keith has been the Director of Music and Performing Arts at Shepherd of the Lakes (Brighton, MI) since June of 1999. Prior to that he was the choir director and music assistant at St. Luke in Ann Arbor. He grew up in Minnesota, graduated from a Michigan high school (Interlochen Arts Academy) and received music degrees from Indiana University and the University of Michigan. He and his wife Ruth have been married since 1985, with 2 grown children and one grandchild. He has played clarinet in the Flint Symphony for over 30 years, and enjoys classical music, plays, and musicals. He enjoys bicycle riding and watching a variety of sporting contests.

David Paul Britton

David Paul Britton

Dave served as Choral and Instrumental Music Director at Valley Lutheran High School (Saginaw, MI) from 1977 – 1999. In 1999, he established MMME (Music, Ministry & Mission Education), serving the Church as a guest worship leader, conference presenter, songwriter, clinician, and facilitator for a wide variety of worship arts resources. He holds degrees from Concordia University – Ann Arbor, Eastern Michigan, and Central Michigan Universities. He and his wife Linda have 3 children and 2 grandchildren. He enjoys running, traveling, reading, and performing music in a wide variety of settings.

Tim Bode

Tim Bode

Tim is Minister of Music at Christ The King (Southgate, MI), and grew up in rural Minnesota. He graduated from Concordia University at St. Paul in 1984. His interests range from genealogy and Civil War research to gardening, horses, fishing, and model trains. He and his wife, Mary, own and operate a horse boarding stable near Belleville called DreamAcre Stables. Their favorite vacation is visiting their grandchildren in Kansas and Minnesota.

Jennifer Stoll

Jennifer Fortosis

Jennifer Fortosis is the Contemporary Worship Director at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Grand Rapids, MI. She has a background in worship from Lee University and Grand Valley State, where she studied Composition, Piano, and Flute. She enjoys worshiping in diverse and new styles while encouraging the Church to keep the focus on Christ and sharing the treasure of Him with others.  

Heidi Swanson

Heidi Swanson

Heidi has served as worship leader and music director in Lutheran churches both internationally and throughout the United States for over 25 years.  She has a sincere love for all worship idioms, and promotes a high standard for excellence in the ministries she leads.  In the summer she is a gardener and watcher of birds. In the dark watches of the night she is a writer of worship songs and a voracious reader. Heidi is the bride of CDR Ray A. Swanson (USN-Retired) and they are blessed by three wonderful children.
